20/08: News about "Secrets Of Love"
Around a year ago Dolores revealed at the Press Conference she gave in Mexico City that she'll be doing a cameo for the movie "Secrets Of Love" by David Grieco (EvilEnko writter) in South Africa on January 2008, she'd also be participating on the Soundtrack for this movie with Angelo Badalamenti (They both worked previously with "Angels Go To Heaven" as part of the Sounstrack for EvilEnko).
Nothing else's been known since that day but finally a couple of days ago more information has surfaced about this movie...
On April 30th, 2006 Offscreen published an interview with David Grieco where we can read some information about Secrets Of Love:
Offscreen: So you are shooting another film with Malcolm and with Badalamenti composing the score. What is it about?
Grieco: It is a film noir called Secrets of Love which I’m shooting in Malta proper. It’s a very old-fashioned film noir like Touch of Evil or Double Indemnity. It’s very dark, very passionate. It’s the story of a famous singer who is murdered and no one knows who the killer is three years later and the people in her personal life are consuming each other to figure out who killed her. Malcolm says it’s a Hitchcock-type movie, but I think it is more like an Orson Welles work —more about destiny and passion.
Offscreen: It doesn’t sound like this one would be as hard to sell as Evilenko.
Grieco: No, I am getting funding, it was not hard for this one. No men eating children.
After that, on November 14th, 2006 the song "The Butterfly" appeared at Angelo Badalamenti's MySpace where it was shown as his most recent collaboration with Dolores O'Riordan! Probably this song will be used for "Secrets Of Love".
Finally, a couple of days ago Icicle Melts found this PDF at Union Contact and posted it at the Cranberries-Fan Forums where it was revealed that Dolores O'Riordan will give face and voice to Sarah Blisset, who had lived in Cape Town, South Africa, with her renowned English psychiatrist husband Michael Hawkins, stepfather to her daughter Scarlet, a beautiful but spoiled adolescent.
Even although Hawkins is not her real father it does not make their relationship any less risqué: in fact Scarlet and Michael are sleeping together.
In Cape Town there is also a police man called Quinlan who wants to solve the mystery of Sarah's death at all costs. Quinlan is a tough guy, a man who sticks at nothing and someone who is ready to do anything to obtain what he wants.
He is forever in a foul mood due no doubt to the irritating skin complaint from which he suffers: psoriasis, an illness of the soul as Doctor Hawkins might describe it....
You'll be able to find more information about the movie on that file including the rest of the cast, it also confirms that Badalamenti will be the responsible for the song "Secrets Of Love" and actually, the whole Soundtrack! Principal photography is planned for Spring 2009.
