01/09: Press Conference

Contrary to what we thought earlier, the Press conference took place in the Hippodrome Hotel instead of the Four Seasons one, we didn't have time to change the information we publicated in here but at the end, we contacted the fans that were waiting at the other hotel and finally we all had access and enjoyed this funny evening.

The calling for the press was at 11:00 hrs in the Hippodrome Hotel located in the zone "La Condesa", thanks to certain contacts that work for some media sources we were able to correct the hotel information.
Jonathan and Isai were able to get some passes for the conference, I was VERY lucky and minutes before the conference began I saw a friend who allowed me to came inside with him.
Seems that OCESA took away the permission to NoiseLab ("AYL?" distributor in Mexico) to make the press conference so this might be the reason why it never showed up at almost any newspaper or program, the room was little and didn't had enough light, at the front there was a table for Dolores to answer our questions, NoiseLab and OCESA flyers covered the whole place.
At the beginning, Dolores thanked for the way the fans received her in the airport, when the questions session began nobody asked anything until finally, a brave hand asked for the first one, I think the first questions were stupid but anyway, questions at least.
First of them all, what does she think about being a mother today and she answered that it's full of contradictions, there are good and bad things but that's the world now-a-days.
After that, they asked about what she thinks about Mexico and she said that it was cool, people is very passionated, she went back to the airport stuff and apologized for not being able to stop a moment for us.
The 3rd question, that's where I go, after saying "Hi" & "Welcome to Mexico" I asked about the tour mentioning that we only had 2 more dates being the Celtic Fest the last one on September 15th in the U.S.A., she answered that there were no specific plans after Christmas, it depends on how the record goes but she'd love to come back! What she likes is to be on the stage!
Isai continues with the questions with something very interesting... Why has she taken away Just My Imagination from the setlist? Being one of the most popular songs in Mexico, Dolores said "You know what? I'll put it back tomorrow for you" It's nice to make some changes on the setlists, they always make some modifications in countries like France or Italy where the reception is very different but well, it'll be added back again!
Next: Mexican music, she said she likes it a lot but the topic changed to the famous Margaritas (Totally offtopic but she couldn't have left without talking about them), she said she loves Margaritas and that later on she'll go for some, not too many because "I have to be a good girl for tomorrow, I have school tomorrow".
She also mentioned that last time they were in Mexico they went to the pyramids, they put her a red band in her head and named her a snake, she was sad because she'd have prefered to be an angel.
Here goes my 2nd question, it was about the second single video "When We Were Young", she told me that it was recorded in 1 day in Paris, directed by Oliver Dahan who had made some work with The Cranberries previously, it's an only one shot video, the kids were taken from the streets in that moment, many of them punks and talks about when you are young, crazy and wild.
They also asked about how she mixes the rock thing and mother thing, she talked about how you separate from your parents, then you grow up, the family also grows up and goes, at the end you end with your own family and you never wanna miss them.
"What bands are you listening right now?" She answered Amy Whitehouse because she's unique and different, Snow Patrol, Coldplay and Kaiser Chiefs while the NoiseLab promos began to fall down from the table...
OnTopic, she talked about MySpace and Kasabian, less production and glamour. She thinks MySpace is brilliant! Something that is not controlled by the industry, you don't know who is listening to your music and how, everything is upside-down, they don't know what's really going on, you just follow your dream.
Her inspiration, just as the song Dreams say, it comes from the dreams just like the mexican music, is very expressive, flokloric and comes from the heart.
Next is a question about her favourite album song, she actually doesn't has a favourite one, each of them has something special, different experiences like family issues, kids, her grandmother, is very organic, no pressure when recording and it was an experience full of joy.

They also asked about solitude which she takes care of because it's really important, she needs enough time on her own, she does yoga 2 hours a day, she walks for an hour or two, rides her bicicle, she doesn't like the cars, she likes simple things, she doesn't like jewerly, she prefers nature, swimming in the lake with the fish and all that.
The differences between Cranberries' songs and the ones of her own are that she's more grounded now, when you're famous you lose the plataform, fame and materialism are all over. She mentioned "You can take the girl out of the city but you can't never take the city out of the girl".
She talked about her musicians beginning with Marco Mendoza, he's mexican and got family in this country, he lived here some years ago, she said "He's amazing, one of the best bass players in the world, he plays with fretless guitars, 5 stringed ones and I can seat and watch him play for hours" In the drums she's got Graham, an irish guy, Steve DeMarchi on the guitars which is a very old friend and his brother Denny on the keyboards. She mentioned Marco plays for Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy while he's not touring with her.
Next question is about her relationship with the rest of the Cranberries' members, she answered they eneded up in friendly therms, each of them had different personal issues, they had children and their lives became very challenged, everyone wanted to try something different, maybe when they get older they'll reform. She added "By the way, all the guys have very good solo projects now".
Back in the MySpace topic, she can see what people think about her solo project, she receives a lot comments from fans who are inspired by her music and she's inspired by all those comments.
My last question was about her cameo in Adam Sandler's movie "Click", she participated 10 days recording in Los Angeles, it was very interesting, 4 hours of make-up, you need a lot of patience as an actor because for the rock shows everything is much faster and she thinks she doesn't has that patience for working in that, she also talked about a new participation this January with Angelo Badalamenti on the movie "Secrets Of Love" where she'll be travelling to Southafrica for recording a part where she'll appear singing!
She's not really into acting because you need to take another personality.
For Isai's 2nd chance, he asked about Willow Pattern and the story behind the song, she told us a little bit about it, it's a pattern of a china set, a story about forbidden love, a poor boy who fall in love with a rich girl, they ran away and her father chased them, she mentioned that her grandmother has this china set at home.
He also asked about the 3rd single and she answered that Apple Of My Eye might be a good option, like Linger but you never know how songs really work as singles.
The last questions was if she missed something from The Cranberries... She said "No, I enjoy the creations I've made... I miss the hanging out but we keep ourselves very busy".
At the end of the conference, everybody went to the frontal part of the room to catch a sign from Dolores, I went to find Don to confirmate the interview thing and this is what happened...
